It already has been a successful season for many of the top high school runners in Oregon.

Three of the four Northwest Region teams that have qualified to compete at the Nike Team Nationals come from the Portland area: Central Catholic's boys; St. Mary's and Jesuit's girls.

At the front of the state's pack are Division I-quality recruits: Franklin's Bryce Burgess (OSAA Class 6A boys champion) and Henley's Taylor Wallace (4A girls champion), for instance.
